Advanced Shade Modelling
Airplanes equipped with measure lasers has flown over Denmark to record a detailed 3D map, accurately displaying hills, rooftops and tree canopies.
This 3D map enables us to determine the slope and orientation of your roof, key variables in solar panel estimation.
By knowing the height of nearby hills, buildings and trees, we can also accurately predict how shadows will fall on your roof throughout the year and how they impact the solar potential of your roof top system.
The detailed 3D map transforms what used to require in-person site visits into a process that can be done instantly and remotely. It's a powerful example of how modern technology is making renewable energy planning more accessible and accurate than ever before.
How Does Shading Affect Solar Panel Performance?
Shading on solar panels can significantly reduce power output:
-
Minimal Shading (20% Blocked): Energy drops by 2-3%.
-
Moderate Shading (30-35% Blocked): Energy decreases by 5-9%.
-
Significant Shading (50%+ Blocked): Energy may reduce by up to 28%.
Our tool analyzes shading patterns throughout the day and year, providing accurate estimates of your roof’s solar potential to prevent overestimation and ensure realistic solar benefits for your home or business.
